Former Officer Pleads “No Contest”

A former Brookfield school resource officer has pleaded no contest to tampering with evidence in a case involving nude photos of teens. Steven Rountos was accused of destroying a cellphone tied to an investigation. He resigned back in 2021 and was arrested in 2022. As part of a plea deal, he now faces a suspended five-year sentence and three years’ probation. Sentencing is set for June 16.
