Ridgefield firefighters spent over eight hours battling a massive house fire on Old South Salem Road, made more challenging by 40-mile-per-hour winds. The five-bedroom home was heavily damaged, particularly the roof and second floor. No one was home at the time, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, with mutual aid provided by surrounding departments, including Danbury.
