Shoulder Driving Aims To Ease Delays In Danbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is considering a short-term fix for traffic congestion on Interstate 84 in Danbury by allowing drivers to use the inside shoulder as a flex lane during peak hours. The plan, focused near Exit 7 at the Route 7 interchange, could cut delays by up to 70%. Construction is expected to begin as early as late 2027 at a cost of $220 to $250 million.
