Connecticut Police Urge For Pot Traffic Stops

Police here in Connecticut are pushing for a law change that would allow officers to stop drivers seen smoking cannabis. Under current law, police cannot pull over a vehicle solely based on the sight or smell of marijuana. Law enforcement officials argue the change is needed to enforce intoxicated driving laws, but some groups oppose it, and claim it could lead to racial profiling. Lawmakers remain divided. No roadside sobriety test for cannabis currently exists.
