Archaeologists are back in Ridgefield, working to uncover new clues from Connecticut’s only inland Revolutionary War battle. The Ridgefield Historical Society has launched the next phase of its battlefield study, backed by a federal grant. Crews are using ground-penetrating radar, GPS mapping, and metal detectors to locate artifacts from the 1777 clash between British troops and American forces that cut through the center of town. The findings could confirm or even rewrite parts of Ridgefield’s Revolutionary War history.
