Bethel Plans Create Controversy

A plan to shift apartments from a commercial building to a taller structure near a Bethel condo complex has split the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission. Developers of the Grand at Stony Hill want to scrap approved blueprints and add a fourth story to a yet-to-be-built building, placing it closer to Copper Square homeowners. Opponents call it a bait-and-switch. The developer says it’s a response to market resistance. The commission is now deadlocked 3-3, with a formal vote set for next Tuesday, April 22.
