The Connecticut man who says he was locked in a closet for two decades by his stepmother has issued a public statement. Identified only as “S,” the 32-year-old said he’s “much better and stronger” since his February escape, which ended with him setting fire to the Waterbury home. Police say he weighed under 70 pounds and had lived in an 8-by-9-foot closet with no heat or bathroom access. Kimberly Sullivan, his stepmother, faces multiple felony charges.
