Connecticut Captive Has a Long Road Ahead

The Connecticut man who police say spent more than 20 years locked inside a small room by his stepmother is now beginning a long road to recovery. The 32-year-old, who calls himself “S,” was rescued in February after setting fire to the home to escape. Weighing just 68 pounds, he told police he was rarely allowed out except for chores and was threatened with death if he spoke out. His stepmother, Kimberly Sullivan, now faces charges. Experts say the trauma he endured could take years to heal. A fundraiser to support his recovery so far has raised about $300,000.
