Jesse M. Bernal, set to become Western Connecticut State University’s next president in July, is committed to increasing access to higher education. Bernal, a first-generation college graduate, plans to expand opportunities for underserved communities and strengthen local ties to boost college enrollment in Danbury. Bernal, currently at Grand Valley State University, aims to build on WCSU’s progress while confronting fiscal and enrollment challenges.
