Emergency repairs are underway at the Western Academy for International Studies Magnet School in Danbury after engineers discovered dangerous movement in a 21-foot-tall retaining wall between two parking lots. City officials say the wall, built on a steep slope, has shifted up to 7 inches outward. A temporary fix, including steel beams and barrier removal, is in place to reduce pressure. Permanent repairs could cost up to $10 million. The city is still finalizing design plans.
