Brookfield will use a $545,000 state grant to add lighting and improve drainage at its baseball and softball fields as part of a $4 million renovation project. The first phase, expected to start in August and finish this fall, includes installing 56 light fixtures on 10 poles to extend field usage by about 380 hours annually. Future phases will add synthetic turf, restrooms, a concession stand, and storm drain upgrades. The grant is part of a statewide program supporting small towns.
