Danbury Intersection Getting Long-awaited Improvements

A $2.65 million state-funded project is underway to ease congestion and boost pedestrian safety at Danbury’s White Street, Locust Avenue and Wildman Street intersection. City Traffic Engineer Veera Karukonda says the upgrades include road widening, added turn lanes and new sidewalks. The improvements aim to protect students near WestConn’s midtown campus and address long-standing traffic bottlenecks. Enhanced lighting and updated crosswalk technology are also part of the plan. The city began pursuing the project in 2014 and secured funding five years ago.
