Judge Rejects Danbury’s Bid to Dismiss Former Finance Director’s Lawsuit

A state judge has denied Danbury’s request to throw out a key claim in a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed by former finance director David St. Hilaire. St. Hilaire, who ran the city’s finances for 15 years, accuses Danbury of firing him without cause and breaching his retirement deal. The city argued St. Hilaire agreed to resign and couldn’t seek damages, but the judge ruled the case can proceed. St. Hilaire is seeking damages, saying Danbury failed to honor its agreement after his resignation.
