A Connecticut nurse is accused of illegally prescribing drugs as part of a nationwide health care fraud case tied to five patient deaths. Federal authorities say 60 year old Michele Rene Luzzi Muzyka charged Medicaid patients cash for controlled substances without medical need. She’s barred from writing prescriptions while the case plays out. Muzyka was one of more than 300 people charged in the $14 billion “Operation Gold Rush” sting.
