Connecticut Plans 10% Fare Increase on Metro-north and Ct Rail By 2026

Connecticut will raise fares on Metro-North Railroad and CT Rail transit by 5% starting September 1, with another 5% hike set for July 1, 2026. The increases aim to cover rising operational costs amid a state funding shortfall. For example, a rush-hour ticket from New Haven to Stamford will rise from $8.75 to $9.50 next year. Officials say fares still won’t keep pace with inflation, which has grown 28% since 2018.
