Thunderstorms caused widespread power outages across Connecticut Tuesday afternoon, with utility companies reporting more than 2,700 outages at 4 p.m. Eversource reported 2,457 of those outages, about half due to fallen tree limbs. By 8:30 p.m., outages dropped to 1,090. The outages came after the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch warning of heavy rain and winds over 58 mph.
