Brookfield’s Police Station Ad Hoc Committee toured Newtown’s police headquarters last week as part of its review of whether to renovate the current station or build a new one. Former Police Chief Jay Purcell called the Newtown facility a model for modern design, highlighting its efficient layout and amenities. The committee is gathering input from police staff through surveys and plans to present recommendations to residents by next June. Options include expanding the 1984 building or constructing a new facility on town-owned properties. A video illustrating the current station’s deficiencies is also in the works.
