Connecticut To Temporarily Close Highway Ramps To Test Wrong-Way Cameras

The state will temporarily close multiple highway on-ramps next week to test new wrong-way vehicle detection cameras. The system uses sensors to alert drivers and law enforcement if a vehicle enters the ramp in the wrong direction. Officials say the tests are needed to ensure the cameras work properly and improve safety after more than a dozen fatal wrong-way crashes statewide over the past three years. Closures will occur overnight, and crews will monitor the tests in real time.
