Governor Ned Lamont says Connecticut will use state funds to keep the Women, Infants, and Children program operating during the federal government shutdown. The state will cover the roughly $200,000 a day needed to run the federally funded nutrition program until reimbursement comes through. More than 52,000 residents, including pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children, rely on WIC for food assistance, education, and health referrals.
