Bethel Voters To Decide On Longer Terms For Selectmen

Voters in Bethel will decide whether to extend selectmen terms from two years to four as part of eight proposed charter changes on the November 4 ballot. Republican First Selectman Dan Carter, seeking reelection against Democrat Thomas Borysiewicz, says the longer terms would bring more stability and allow officials to focus on long-term planning instead of constant campaigning. The proposed change wouldn’t take effect until 2027 if approved. Early voting runs through November 2.
