ROAR Animal Rescue in Ridgefield has teamed up with a group in Puerto Rico to save stray dogs and cats from the island’s growing animal crisis. In the past year, more than 60 rescued pets have been flown over 2,200 miles to Connecticut, where most have already found homes. ROAR says more transports are planned, with volunteers ensuring each animal is vaccinated, healthy, and ready for adoption. Puerto Rico is estimated to have 1.5 million stray animals in need of help.
