Danbury Woman Charged in DraftKings Fraud Scheme

26 year old Skyler Corte-Real of Danbury is facing first-degree identity theft, first-degree computer crime and second-degree larceny charges after allegedly using stolen identities to defraud the sports-betting app DraftKings. Authorities say the scheme, uncovered in a 2024 investigation, involved more than $190,000 in fraudulent transactions. Corte-Real was arrested Oct. 15 and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond. A plea hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6 in State Superior Court.
