Bethel is getting more than half a million dollars to start a new composting program at its transfer station. The $521,000 grant from the Housatonic Resource Recovery Association will fund an in-vessel composting system powered by solar equipment, cutting disposal costs and reducing food waste, with completion expected in about nine months.
