Amazon has started sending refunds to Prime customers following a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. The case stems from allegations the company used deceptive practices to enroll users in Prime and made it difficult to cancel subscriptions. Eligible customers can receive up to $51 automatically via Venmo or PayPal, with the option to request a mailed check. Amazon will continue processing refunds through December 24, and customers who miss automatic payments can file claims in 2026. The settlement also includes a $1 billion civil penalty.
