A Newtown woman was sentenced Monday to two years in prison and five years probation following a December 2023 shooting and standoff that ended with her husband injured and police called to her home. 35 year old Meghan Gouveia pleaded guilty under the Alford doctrine to second-degree assault and two counts of risk of injury to a child. Court officials said her two children were unharmed, and a psychiatrist testified she experienced a psychotic break linked to untreated depression and high-dose ADHD medication.
