More Than 42,000 Connecticut Residents Face New SNAP Work Requirements

The free lunch is over for more than 42,000 Connecticut residents, who must now meet work requirements to keep receiving SNAP benefits after new federal rules took effect Dec. 1. The changes affect able-bodied adults without dependents, raising the upper age limit to 64 and removing exemptions for veterans, homeless individuals, and young adults aging out of foster care. Those impacted must show they are working at least 80 hours per month or qualify for a remaining exemption, or risk losing benefits.
