Thousands lose power in Danbury and New Fairfield as crews work to restore service

Frigid temperatures left about 1,626 Danbury residents and more than 1,200 in New Fairfield without power Monday morning after equipment failure at Eversource’s Middle River Substation, officials said. Outages began around 9:30 a.m., with crews working steadily to restore electricity. Most customers had service returned before 1 p.m., as crews repaired damaged lines in the bitter cold.
