Connecticut has activated its Severe Cold Weather Protocol as temperatures are expected to drop sharply over the next several days. The protocol took effect at noon Monday and will remain in place until noon on Sunday, January 4th. State agencies are coordinating with 2-1-1 and shelters statewide to ensure anyone needing a warm place to stay can find one. Outreach teams are also urging people experiencing homelessness to seek shelter. Governor Ned Lamont is asking residents to check on neighbors, especially seniors and those with disabilities, and limit travel during the cold snap.
