Ed launched his radio career in 1975 and has spent more than five decades in the broadcasting industry. During that time, he has served in a wide range of roles including Air Personality, News Director, Sales Manager, Operations Manager, and General Manager at numerous radio stations in various markets across the country. Beyond on-air and management responsibilities, Ed has also worked extensively on the technical side of broadcasting. His background includes RF engineering and information technology, with particular experience configuring digital automation systems and remote voice-tracking platforms used by stations across the country. Ed was also among a select group of industry professionals invited by Google to its California headquarters following the company’s acquisition of Scott Studios. He was one of just 12 broadcasters nationwide chosen to participate in discussions and provide input during the design and rollout of Google’s digital broadcast automation platform. Although the majority of Ed’s career—spanning roughly four decades—was rooted in music radio, he transitioned into news and information programming in 2012. He says the move into spoken-word broadcasting was a natural evolution after decades of experience in multiple areas of the industry.

Connecticut Tax Changes Take Effect July 1

Several Connecticut tax changes take effect July first, including eliminating the state sales tax on most school supplies. The state is also expanding its annual tax-free week to include clothing, footwear and backpacks costing up to 300 dollars. Lawmakers also approved several new tax deductions and credits.

Connecticut Pastor Charged In Petition Fraud Case

A 33 year old Connecticut pastor, Robert Hoggard of Middletown, faces multiple forgery and perjury charges after investigators alleged he falsified petition signatures during his 2024 Democratic primary campaign for state representative. Prosecutors say several voters reported signatures on nominating petitions were not theirs. The case was referred for criminal investigation by state election officials.

Summer Bird Counts Underway Across Connecticut

Connecticut birdwatchers are taking part in the annual Summer Bird Counts, a citizen science effort aimed at tracking breeding bird populations across the state. Sponsored by the Connecticut Ornithological Association, the counts are being conducted at eight locations through early July and help monitor both common and declining bird species.

Two-Alarm Fire Damages Bethel Business

Firefighters from Bethel and several neighboring communities battled a two-alarm fire at a commercial building on Turkey Plain Road late Tuesday night. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the unoccupied structure and brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.

State Awards $15 Million For Brownfield Redevelopment

Connecticut is awarding $15.2 million to help clean up and redevelop a list of blighted properties across the state. Officials say the projects will support new housing, business development, and job growth while leveraging more than $81 million in private investment. The funding will help remediate 267 acres of contaminated land for future use.

AAA Predicts Record July Fourth Travel

AAA predicts a record 72.2 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home during the Independence Day holiday period from June 27th through July 5th. Police Identify Teens in Darien Luring Incident

Darien police say they have identified the people involved in an incident in which an elementary school student was reportedly asked to get into a minivan while walking home. Investigators determined the vehicle’s occupants were local teenagers and say there is no ongoing threat to the community as the investigation continues.

Connecticut Prosecutors Reappointed

Connecticut’s Criminal Justice Commission has unanimously reappointed several top prosecutors. Chief State’s Attorney Patrick Griffin will begin a new five-year term July 1. Also reappointed were Deputy Chief State’s Attorney John Russotto and State’s Attorneys Margaret Kelley and Michael Gailor.
