Bethel Police Withhold Report After State Rep. Charged with Shoplifting

State Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan has been charged with sixth-degree larceny after allegedly shoplifting from a Target in Bethel. Police say he left without paying for $26.69 worth of items and was identified by store employees from prior incidents. The Democratic lawmaker claims the items were missed at self-checkout during a rushed visit. Bethel police have not released the arrest report, citing an ongoing investigation. Allie-Brennan is due in court July 1. Possible disciplinary action in the legislature has not been announced.
