The Town of Bethel will launch a new Food Scraps Smart Bin at the Municipal Center parking lot on Jan. 23. Town officials say the secure, locked bin will allow residents to drop off food scraps around the clock while reducing waste and producing compost. The program is run in partnership with the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority. Residents must register through HRRA and hold a valid transfer station permit to participate.
