Brookfield School Board Narrowly Backs Spending Plan

The Brookfield Board of Education voted 4–3 to advance a $58.8 million school budget that would raise spending by 4.86 percent in Brookfield. The plan now moves to the Brookfield Board of Selectmen and Brookfield Board of Finance before heading to voters. Supporters called the proposal carefully developed, while opponents warned it’s fiscally unsustainable and could face trouble at referendum.
