Joe Montgomery, founder of the Wilton based Cannondale bicycle brand, has died. He was 86. Montgomery launched the company in 1971 from a loft above a Wilton pickle factory, helping pioneer lightweight aluminum bicycle frames that reshaped the industry. His wife says he died after ongoing heart troubles. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
