If you forgot to get that bottle of wine for your Thanksgiving feast yesterday, you were out of luck. Connecticut still blocks alcohol sales on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day, a leftover from the state’s old blue laws. Lawmakers say there’s little push to change it, and package store owners say they actually prefer the guaranteed days off. While restaurants can serve drinks, no alcohol can be sold to go. Even after Sunday sales were approved years ago, the three-day holiday ban remains untouched, and there’s no sign it will shift anytime soon.
