Connecticut is among 21 states suing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services over a new Affordable Care Act rule that adds fees, shortens open enrollment, and excludes gender-affirming care as an essential benefit. Attorney General William Tong says the changes will increase costs, add red tape, and could cause up to 1.8 million people nationwide to lose coverage. The lawsuit seeks to block the rule, set to take effect Aug. 25th.
