Connecticut Lawmakers Pass Bill Targeting Illegal Street Takeovers

Connecticut lawmakers have passed a bill aimed at cracking down on illegal street takeovers. The measure allows police to seize vehicles, issue $2,000 fines, and suspend driver’s licenses for up to two years. It comes after more than 100 cars blocked an intersection back in April, damaging property and a police cruiser. A 17 year old was arrested this week, with more arrests expected. The bill passed both chambers with broad support and now awaits the governor’s signature. It could take effect as early as July 1.
