A Connecticut State Police trooper has resigned after being arrested for allegedly lying about a hit and run crash in Southbury. 28 year old Samantha Stella is charged with falsely reporting an incident, misuse of 911, evading responsibility, and failure to drive in the established lane. Investigators say her cruiser struck a metal pole in Southbury near Exit 14, not another vehicle as she claimed. Data and witness statements contradicted her report. Stella later admitted she was distracted, hit the pole, then drove to Danbury before reporting a hit and run. She is due in court January 22.
