Connecticut lawmakers have approved a bipartisan energy bill that could save families up to $200 a year on electric bills. The Senate passed the measure 34-1 Monday night, setting the stage for a House vote. The bill shifts $250 million in unpaid energy debt to long-term state borrowing, provides $105 million for storm-related utility costs, and sets aside funds for EV charging stations and smart meters. It also expands the utility authority board and offers tax credits for renewables.
