Danbury Democrats Endorse Alves for Second Term As Mayor

Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves has officially secured the Democratic Party’s endorsement as he launches his bid for a second term. Speaking at City Hall, Alves called for continued momentum, saying, “We can’t afford to sit back now.” Alves became the city’s first Democratic mayor in 20 years after winning in 2023. Since then, Democrats have gained control of the City Council, Board of Education, and Zoning Commission. The Danbury GOP is expected to announce its slate of candidates next week.
