Danbury Schools Boost Paraeducator Pay to Attract Classroom Support

Danbury’s public schools have raised starting pay for paraeducators in a push to strengthen classroom support. The new contract, approved in May, increases hourly wages to between $20 and $23 for new hires, and up to $24 for those with six or more years of service. School officials say the move is part of a broader effort to reduce teacher burnout and improve school climate. The district is also working to fill more than 130 open positions, including key administrative roles.
