Danbury Zoning Appeals Approved

Danbury’s Zoning Board of Appeals approved six variances to turn a long-vacant garage on Mill Plain Road into a gas station and convenience store. But the board rejected a seventh request to narrow a two-lane driveway to 20 feet, citing traffic concerns. The developer’s attorney argued that traffic design issues should be left to city planners. Board members said they’d reconsider the driveway variance later if city traffic engineers sign off. The site, once home to John’s Auto & Truck Repair, sits on a heavily traveled corridor near the New York state line.
