Developer Seeks Zone Change to Build 225 Apartments in Danbury

A Waterbury developer wants to rezone 27 acres of industrial land on Danbury’s west side to build 225 apartments. The property sits off Saw Mill Road near the New York line, close to the growing Reserve complex. A representative for the developer says the steep, partially wet terrain makes it more suitable for housing than industrial use. City officials say the idea makes sense but they still want to ensure responsible growth. A public hearing is set for July 8 before Danbury’s Zoning Commission.
