Former Danbury Man Gets Prison Time for $1.35m Medicaid Fraud

A former Danbury resident has been sentenced to one year in prison for defrauding Medicaid out of more than $1.35 million. Officials say 47 year old Bobby Kato Jr., now living in North Carolina, submitted over 14,000 false claims for therapy sessions he never performed between 2017 and 2020. In addition to prison, Kato must pay more than $1.3 million in restitution and is banned from working as a Medicaid provider during probation. He pleaded guilty last year to larceny, fraud and identity theft.
