Former New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart Enters Connecticut Governor Race

Former six-term New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart has officially announced her run for governor of Connecticut. Stewart, a Republican, criticized current leadership in Hartford, saying the state is stagnant and in need of change. She plans a formal campaign kickoff Thursday at New Britain Stadium. Stewart, first elected mayor at age 26, joins a crowded field including incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont, who is seeking a third term, and Democratic challenger Deputy House Speaker Josh Elliott.
