Lamont Signs State Budget with Big Boosts for Education, Services

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has signed the state’s biennial budget for 2026 and 2027. The $417 million plan for early childhood education grows to $443 million in the second year, with a new endowment seeded by surplus funds. Special education funding rises by nearly $95 million over two years. The budget also fully funds public school grants, adds money for housing and health services, and increases support for higher education. Lamont calls the budget balanced and says it holds the line on taxes while investing in key priorities.
