Man Convicted in 1999 Killing of 8-year-old Boy and Mother in Connecticut Released Under Biden Clemency Order

A 49 year old man who was convicted in the 1999 murder of an 8-year-old and his mother in Bridgeport has been released after receiving clemency from former President Joe Biden. Adrian Peeler was sentenced to 60 years combined for his role in the killings, which aimed to stop them from testifying against his drug-dealing brother. Peeler finished his state sentence in January 2022 and was granted clemency for a separate federal drug charge, shortening his prison time. The release has drawn sharp criticism from Connecticut lawmakers, including Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who called it a miscarriage of justice.
