$5.9 million in emergency state funding has been distributed to 278 small businesses and nonprofits in western Connecticut, aiding recovery from severe flooding in August. The funds, part of a one-time emergency grant program, were used for storm cleanup, inventory replacement, and equipment repairs. The program aimed to quickly assist organizations with fewer than 100 employees in Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven counties. Applicants could receive up to $25,000, and a total of $38 million in damages were reported.
