More Than 80 Crashes Reported as Blizzard Pounded Connecticut

Connecticut State Police say troopers responded to more than 80 crashes as blizzard conditions swept across the state. From midday Sunday through late Monday morning, police handled 83 crashes, including four with injuries, along with about 360 motorist assists and more than 1,000 total calls for service.
State police reported numerous vehicles off the road and several jackknifed tractor-trailers. Officers urged compliance with the governor’s commercial vehicle ban, saying fewer large trucks made it easier for crews to keep highways open.
The Connecticut State Police continue to patrol roads and are urging drivers to stay off highways if possible. Those who must travel are advised to clear snow from vehicles, keep headlights on, give plows room, and remain in their vehicles if stranded while calling for help.
