Two public access points to the Housatonic River at Dike Point Park and Fisherman’s Cove will close starting Saturday under an emergency order signed by the Mayor. The move follows the drowning of 43-year-old Simon Hernandez at Fisherman’s Cove last weekend. The closures aim to improve safety for visitors and reduce strain on first responders. New Milford officials are working with FirstLight Power to implement additional safety measures. Police will monitor the closed areas and tow vehicles parked illegally.
