New Milford voters turned down the proposed $121 million budget for 2025-26 this week, saying the plan cuts school funding too deeply. The budget included $74.3 million for schools and $47.9 million for the town. The town budget was rejected 2,144 to 1,900, while the school budget failed with 3,201 no votes to just 898 yes votes. The Board of Finance and Town Council will now review the results and propose revised budgets in the coming days.
